Short Description Of The Book:
Among the many methods of astrology for knowing the future, Jyotish Vigyan is a universally accepted ancient method of astrology, in which the future of a person is known according to his name. But today it is almost extinct.
This branch of astrology is also mentioned in sufficient detail in Indian religious scriptures. There has been detailed discussion on this science in the ancient Yamal texts like “Shakti”, “Brahma”, “Rudra” and “Vishnu”.
Even in Valmiki Ramayana and Shrimad Bhagwat, detailed introduction and analysis of the parts and appendages of astrology has been done at different places through the characters of names etc. depicted in the book. In this way, the tradition of this scripture is beautifully continued in the earlier texts. (See Appendix B) Later, the texts of Yoga Shastra (Shivsvarodaya-Hathayoga) related to the yogic practices of Gorakh-Panthis and Nath-Panthis contributed a lot in the development of this phonetics.

भविष्य ज्ञान के लिए फलित ज्योतिष की अनेक विध सरणियों में स्वर- विज्ञान, ज्योतिष-शास्त्र की एक सर्वमान्य प्राचीन पद्धति है, जिसमें मनुष्य के नाम के अनुसार भविष्य का ज्ञान किया जाता है। लेकिन आज यह प्रायः लुप्त ही है।
ज्योतिश्शास्त्र की इस शाखा का उल्लेख भारतीय धर्मग्रन्थों में भी पर्याप्त विस्तार से मिलता है। "शक्ति" "ब्रह्म" "रुद्र" और "विष्णु" प्रभृति प्राचीन यामल ग्रन्थों में भी इस विज्ञान पर विस्तृत विचार-विमर्श हुभा है ।
वाल्मीकि रामायण, श्रीमद्भागवत में भी भिन्न-भिन्न स्थानों पर ज्योतिष शास्त्र के अंगों उपांगों का विशद परिचय और विश्लेषण ग्रन्थ में चित्रित नाम आदि के चरित्र के माध्यम से हुआ है। इस तरह पूर्ववर्ती ग्रन्थों में इस शास्त्र की परम्परा का निर्वाह सुन्दर ढंग से मिलता है। (देखें परि- शिष्ट ख ) कालान्तर में गोरख-पन्थियों और नाथ-पन्थियों के यौगिक साधनाओं से सम्बन्धित योग शास्त्र के ग्रन्थों (शिवस्वरोदय-हठयोग) ने इस स्वर विज्ञान के विकास में काफी योगदान किया ।'
